I've been posting on and off here for a while now, and am happy to say that I'm finally heading up there to lock down an apartment. I'll actually be moving in next month, but am going up there to secure a place TODAY. I'll be there from today until Sunday, and have done a ton of research and have some good prospects to look at. Flight leaves from Houston, Texas at 2, and I'll be there later this evening. I'm pumped and have been ever since I received the job offer last November. I'm happy to get the chance to live and work in your amazing City, and it's an opportunity for which I'm very grateful. I'm looking forward to being your neighbor.
Texas, good luck. I also made a move from Texas to NY, 8 year ago, dont regret it for a minute, it is expensive and stressful, but there is a lot to compensate for it
Best of luck to you in the move. I am sure you will enjoy the city immensely, since there's so much to do. I'm sure you will be kept busy for a year just trying out new places to eat and stroll. It really is a wonderful city!
Congratulations! You will have the time of your life!
Now and then, when you have a few minutes, just stand somewhere, anywhere, and let the energy of the city flow around you. Not like anything you'll ever feel anywhere else... Go have a ton of fun!!
Update: Just wanted to let you all know that I locked up my #1 target on the trip (just got back today). It's a great 720-sq. ft. place at the Avalon Riverview in Long Island City, right on the East River. I have an AMAZING view of Manhattan, and it's on the 26th floor. From my living room and bedroom, I can see the Empire State, Chrystler, Queensborough Bridge, and all the way through 42nd Street to the Hudson. Subway is 2 blocks away, and the area really seems to be growing fast. I'm so happy with it, and feel so lucky to get to live there
