Thanks, Rachael, I appreciate the info... we're in a loft now, and just love it. Any chance of us finding a loft with around 1200-1500 sq ft in any of these areas? Or do we have to get closer to NYC? Also, any thoughts on living in CT of PA as opposed to Queens or Long Island? They don't seem that far away, and we would really only need to get into NYC occasionally for business and long weekend fun trips, etc.

PA is pretty far...I don't think you would want to travel to NYC from there, and vice versa. What I said about NJ is true about PA too. From CT you can get into the Bronx, and I believe there are some free bridges into Manhattan if you were to drive into there.
There also aren't any lofts in any of these areas. Like someone had said, there really aren't many lofts in NYC. The only ones are downtown, and there aren't even a lot of them. They're extremely pricey too.
