Nope, Orchard is known to have the dirtiest water in and around the city, not because of the people that go there but because of its location on the Long Island Sound (as opposed to the Atlantic Ocean) and probably located near a sewage plant or something. The people are mainly Spanish (mostly PR) from the Bronx and other nearby areas. If you're not used to these people they may not be your type, they're not everyone's cup of tea at all but I like the people a lot. They are so friendly to my daughter and me. We have a fun crew that meet up every week there, and they are so generous and fun loving. And we met there at the beach this summer. But mainly I go every Sunday to watch the music, lots of great live salsa. And door to door its only a 30 minute drive from my house and the parking is only $8 for the day. So it works out great for us every week, I even go there when I'm in CT at my mom's (who lives near a tiny kid friendly beach) I leave on Sat night so I can go to dirty Orchard on Sunday lol. But definitely dont go there for the WATER or even to sit on the beach, which I find totally boring no matter what beach I go to lol.

But try Long Beach, that is really nice and very clean. If you have more time go to the Hamptons, which have some beautiful beaches..
