I am considering moving to those areas but as a single woman, do not want a neighborhood that shuts down after all the people get off work and go home.

So what neighborhood would be a fun place to go say, on a thursday night for a trio of single women late 30s early 40s who want dinner and drinks, and lots of people watching after work or up to 10 pm?

Murray Hill on Third should be open until 10 at least, most nights, if you don't want to go too far.

Anything north of 14th st. because you'll stand out from the young birds downtown. Try the older bars/restaurants in Midtown, UWS and UES.
