I know nothing at all about Brooklyn. I have the idea that it is strictly apartment living, and that those seeking a driveway, detached house, and backyard of any size need to look elsewhere. But I know that other large U.S. cities do have their more spacious neighborhoods -- even San Francisco has a few districts where houses have yards and space. Can anyone enlighten me as to whether such a place exists in Brooklyn?

Also the areas called Victorian Flatbush and Ditmas Park. There's probably just as much of Brooklyn that features private homes as apartment or rowhouses, if not more.
Mill Basin too - the "New Section" basically looks like the suburbs. Old Mill basin has more semi-detached and attached, but driveways and yards are pretty much the norm.
