Staten Island is the most un-New York like borough and has more in common with NJ than NYC. Should NYC give away Staten Island to NJ perhaps in exchange for Hudson County, NJ?
No way! SI is part of NYC. Why give away the island and it's tax paying residents who have a higher median income than Hudson County for an urbanized county with its share of issues?
I love the transplants who have an inferior view of SI.
It's the last remaining stronghold of native NY'ers that hasn't been gentrified with an excess of Jamba Juices, vegeterian restaurants and Blackberry stores. I guess that's a bad thing?
Staten Island has more native New Yorkers than Manhattan. New York is about the people, not the buildings. Why you Moderator cut: can't look past the two family homes of SI to realize that is beyond me.

Absolutely not. Staten Island is an important part of NYC.It is part of the soul and fiber of the city. Plus,it has the highest income level of any borough... more than Manhattan even... and contributes more than it's share of property and income taxes with less demand on city resources than any other borough. They are probably the ones getting the bad deal
Who wants the problems of Hudson County ? Because some yuppies in Hudson County want to be able to say that they live in NY rather than just pretend and not be lying ? Give me a break.
I thought everyone from Staten Island moved to New Jersey. I'm sure Staten Island would much rather be part of NJ than NYC.
And Hudson county, how could that be part of NYC! That's Jersey for god's sake. Totally ridiculous. That's like suggesting the sun rise in the west and set in the east.

That's false. Hudson county residents identify with n.j. more than anywhere, NYers to them are corporatized tenderfoot metrosexuals etc
