So I think I might have found paid parking near where I work. I can get a monthly pass for about $98.
My question is........should I tip them if they park my car for me? If so, then how much would be appropriate and also, should I tip when they return my car or when I hand my car over to them. Don't tell me that I'll have to tip both times!
If it's a parking valet type thing then yes you should tip them.
If the same person both parks and brings back your car then I could see tipping once at the end of the day.
If two different people provide the service then you should tip each one at the time they do that.
These people live off tips. Thay don't make much as far as salary.
I know it's more expense but it just might cause the person to be extra careful and courteous about how he or she handles your vehicle.
are you sure you tip in this situation? This isn't you typical valet parking. I'm a generous tipper but my first reaction was "no" ....Just saying. I'm not familiar with this setup though.

Yeah you should tip when they handle your car. Tip when they give you back the car. I would think the customary tip for a valet is still a buck or two. If its the same person handling your car and you get to know them after a while, you probably can probably just tip them once a month (calculate what you would usually tip daily and give them a lump sum for a month).
I tip on the way in and on the way out, and also befriend the valets at any garage that I use regularly by bringing them snacks (cookies, doughnuts, granola bars) on occasion, and/or using their extra services if they have a car wash/detail service that they perform when it's not busy, etc. $1 on the way in and out is fine, but if it's a higher-end vehicle, I would not skimp, tipping $2/each time or $5/day. Some garages run in shifts, however, so if tipping for the day the morning guy could be inadvertently short changed if they do not have a communal tip jar. If in doubt, ask if they do, or observe if the same person is there all day long.

It's just common courtesy to tip service people.... These guys make squat as far as salary is concerned and they work their tails off (they're not only parking your car --- they do a ton of work around the garage). They depend on tips to supplement their salaries.
If you're not aware, many people who work in the service industry, such as waiters, work for LESS THAN MINIMUM WAGE (yes, it's legal) because the tips they earn are supposed to make up for the salary.
I always generously tip wait staff, parking attendants, etc. unless they do a blatanly horrible job.
