That would be Harlem. Generally safe though I can't vouch for that particular area. Whatever the case, the google street view looks like its next to the school.

It's not next to John Jay, because John Jay is on 58th St. and 10th Ave.

That's harlem alright. Sketchy at night. I have a friend that lives on 139th and amsterdam. I've been up during the day and at night. When I was there at night it was for a party at 3am. Not the best call in the world. I didnt feel safe.

That's right by CCNY, and the area is transitional. Some blocks are great, and others not so much, but don't go into the park after dark. I expect that there's building security, so I would not be too worried about living there per se, just be sure to take due care when venturing into the surrounding neighborhood, especially at night.

On the east side of the park, on AC Powell Blvd (aka 7th Ave) there is a large public housing complex that runs from 127th to 131st. It's not the same, demographically as East Harlem, but Central & West Harlem do have some large blocks of housing projects, though they're not as concentrated as they are in East Harlem.

Pretty accurate. It's a mixed area, a little bit of everything. Mostly safe.

A lot of places at 3 A.M. are not going to seem safe.

Wasnt a 15 year old boy randomly shot and killed in that area(1 block away to be sepcific) in that exact area..plus that area is by city college , wow , any1 who says the city college area is safe, must of never been here, that place is filled with dominican gangs , not to mention the area itself seems more ghetto , if i were you i,d try to move to a more southern portion of harlem , like below 125th street

Yeah, but kids and teens seem to die all over the place in this city, not just in Harlem, and a case here and there doesn't necessarily reflect the overall safety of the neighborhood.

I can recall hearing about at least 15 murders in Harlem this year already.
