I'm 6 months pregnant and living in a 1 bedroom coop with my husband. We would love a single family home, but would be willing to buy a condo, just to have 2-3 bedrooms. The problem is we can only afford to spend $300,000 on our next home, and can't seem to find anything in that price range in a decent, safe area of Queens.

We do not wish to buy another coop, does anyone have any suggestions?

What areas are you looking in? I wouldn't say it's completely impossible, but it will be tough for that price range in a good area like Forest Hills or Bayside. You may be able to find a 2-bedroom in areas like Elmhurst or Jackson Heights.

Since condos are considered real property, their prices aren't that far from a single-family home in some cases. Unfortunately, your best bet for a 3-bedroom in that price range will probably be a coop.

Try Lindenwood in Howard Beach. There a bunch of 6 story 1960's era Condominiums. I'm pretty sure you can find a 2 bed, 2 bath in that area for < $300K.
