I was wondering if anyone knows if I can do this.

A friend of mine is burying their dad tomorrow and I'd like to send food to their house for Saturday and Sunday so they don't have to worry about it. They live in Queens and I won't be able to get out there.

Is there any chance that I could call a diner or bagel store or something and use a credit card over the phone to have stuff delivered to their house. I was thinking about it and wondered if maybe the place I call will think it's some kind scam.

Is this doable? Thank you. I've never done anything like this before.

Why not ? It's no different than sending flowers. If the place delivers anyway I'm sure they'll take your order... and as long as they take credit cards.
Don't forget to add a tip for the delivery guy.

Absolutely. It should be no problem at all. A nice thing to do.

Definitely, I did something similar just a couple of days ago. Shouldn't be a problem.

very easy. However I would check with the people you are sending it to first. During my grandfathers funeral we ended up with 11 cookie trays and 7 trays of cold cuts....needless to say a lot got thrown away.

How very thoughtful of you, and it should be no problem at all. I have never had an issue ordering food with a credit card, even for delivery not to my own address, and places that deliver would be very happy to help you in that situation. They would only think it to be a scam if you ordered and wanted to pay cash, then it could be a prank, but as long as the food is paid for, they'll deliver.
