Hi! I live in MA. I got a speeding ticket in Owego NY back to 10/23/2014. Earlier, I tried to get deduction from DA. They offered 10 mph deduction. I realized that it would still impact my driving record in MA. So I hired a local lawyer in Owego. They said they would try to negotiate for me to tranfer to non-speeding charge. After a few months process, I just found out they got same result as the DA offered the first time. I don't feel like they negotiated at all. Anyway, I don't mind paying for fine. I just want no impact to my driving record in MA. I am thinking to fire the lawyer since they didn't try harder. Does anyone have any suggestion about what I should do? If I go to the court, is there any chance I can win or transfer charge to non-speeding charge? Thank you very much for any tips!
If your lawyer can't negotiate a lesser violation, going to court will be a waste of time and money. You are guaranteed to lose your case.
The next thing that I would do is contact a traffic ticket attorney in MA before you receive notice that your drivers license has been suspended. I don't know if there is anything that they can do for you but it's worth a try. See link below.
Thank you very much! As far as I know, I won't be suspended even if I get the ticket but extra points. I have spoken to RMV in MA. Both states do share violations information. Anyway, I guess I will just pay for it . Thanks again.
