The town of wallkill is in orange county & the village is located in ulster county. The town of Shawangunk if fairly big. I know the village is located within the town and I'm not certain how many other villages reside within the town as well.

Most are probably thinking you mean the Town of Wallkill. EVen at that though, you're only what, 10-15 miles from Middletown? That's not far either...

Hi, we live in the Hamlet of Wallkill, in Ulster County. When we first moved in, we had problems with deliveries of our appliances ending somewhere up in the Town of Wallkill! A little explaining to some confused delivery people, and we were set. For some reason I always get jury notices from Orange County too, but I'm exempt from those since I'm in a different county. You'd think the justice system would figure it out! The Town of Shawangunk is spread out over a mostly rural area, encompassing some small villages/hamlets. The Hamlet of Wallkill itself is small, but we have a couple of banks, 2 pizza shops, a hardware store, library, some other basic stuff, and with any luck, the new little convenience store will be opening soon. The previous one closed, and it was handy to have. For shopping at larger stores, you can head to Middletown, or to Newburgh, both of which would be about a 20 minute ride. A few minutes out of town and the scenery is beautiful, especially if you head up towards New Paltz. They also paved the rail-trail between our hamlet and Walden, which is really nice. Our neighbors are friendly, but mostly keep to themselves, or perhaps we keep to ourselves a bit more than others. I'd like to move somewhere warmer, and to a place with a little bit more going on, but it is quiet and not too busy.

Sylvian or others... can you help me understand something.

Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed suggests that Wallkill has fairly bad crime. a 7 and 8 out of 10 (10 being the worst). While I have never been to this town, New Paltz and Kingston are in the 5's so this was a shock to me. Is this a mistake perhaps??
