Hey folks, need some help here. Traveling for a little league tournament in June and am looking for suggestions on where to stay during a week of baseball. How far away is the little league complex from "downtown"? Would need accommodations for a family of 5. Don't want to break the bank so any ideas would be helpful. This is an annual baseball event, so there must be some rhyme and reason to where people stay.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thx.

Cooperstown is a good distance from the Albany area. I would look into Cooperstown first, then maybe Oneonta or Herkimer.

Hi,
I grew up in the area, but which little league complex are you talking about? I think that there is one in Oneonta and another in Hartwick Seminary. The one in Oneonta is at least 20 minutes from Cooperstown, the other about 5-10 minutes.
There are a few (for Cooperstwon) hotels near Hartwick Seminary, I believe.

Best of luck!

Hartwick is the location for the baseball series. Is it hard to find house rentals in the downtown (cooperstown) area? I think the baseball complex is 4-5 miles outside of downtown. Looks like all the hall of fame exhibits are on "Main" street.

Cooperstown really isn't a huge place, so I'd suggest just checking out the hotel reviews on TripAdvisor (The 10 Best Cooperstown Hotels - TripAdvisor) and picking one that sounds good and is within your budget. I also find Google Maps is a really good tool for scoping out the approximate drive times between things, and Google Street View lets you see what's near a hotel.

I've stayed at the Holiday Inn and found it convenient for doing a range of things within the Cooperstown-Oneonta area. It would be a good choice for a family, as they have a free breakfast. But there are other good options if you want something a little fancier. You'll need a car in any case.

Have a fun trip!

What is the weather like in June? Are showers a good possibility that time of year? Humid? Are nights pleasant for walking the "downtown" area or is it still rather cool that time of year?

Any summer month gives you the possibility of showers and thunderstorms. Most of the rain anywhere in the Northeast falls during the summer months. June is usually drier than July and August, though. It can be humid, especially later in June, but nights are usually rather cool (even in July) with a good chance of lows in the 50s (sometimes even 40s if the air is dry).

There are tons and tons of choices in and outside the immediate area. Baseball is all there is, in the summer months in the area you are going to. Or at least, that's what the people in the industry think.

As for the weather...well it's Central New York. You never know.
