No problem. If you don’t mind, what part of the area are you in?

We bought a house on South Side of Binghamton. We were living in the Catskills, but when we were ready to buy, it was during Covid - & the cost of homes went way up. (My husband grew up in Greene.) I hadn't been interested in the Binghamton area, but where we are is very nice, & good neighbors. Also, I notice a lot of changes being made & plans for many improvements downtown & elsewhere.
We've read all the negativity, but for us this was a sensible & good fit.

Thank you for your response and most importantly, checking the area out for yourself in spite of the usual negativity. I think people harp on the negatives, which occur to some degree everywhere, but may be pleasantly surprised by a place/area like Binghamton. It offers quite a bit for its size and if it offers what you are looking for in a neighborhood/community, that is the most important thing.

The South Side has some businesses, a hospital, Ross Park Zoo(5th oldest zoo in the country) and depending on where you are, there is a pedestrian bridge you can take to Downtown. The area in the western portion of the South Side near Vestal is quite nice too. That area is a quick drive to the shopping on Vestal Parkway and Binghamton University for events.
