..Somehow..that didn't connect to any relevant story....but given the never ending "surprises" from kathy...I wouldn't be shocked at whatever it is.
The link still works for me.
Kathy Hochel wants to spend $200 million to feed children over the summer.
My point is very simple, and that is the more the government spends our money, the more unaffordable this state becomes. Her "solution" makes the issue worse.
It is a U.S. Department of Agriculture summertime program to try and get some food to kids who rely on school lunches during the school year. Since this is run by the Ag Dept it is likely to benefit farmers and ranchers as well as kids who need food.
The flaw in this program is that it provides grocery money (EBT) to the parent(s) instead of providing meals to the children the way school lunches do.
Overall though, not the worst government spending program. And like I said is probably just as much to support the food suppliers as it is to help hungry kids.

Thank you for catching this, as the only thing the governor has to do with this, is that she opted into the funding. It is a Federal program, not a state program and I agree that it would be better if it was attached to the children directly like the school program.

We cover half the costs to run it. Did you not read the article ? Nothing is free.
Nys should have asked someone like chick fil a to maybe create a program and assist with child hunger to help out the residents of the state in need. Anytime the state and federal government operate together there’s massive waste in cost.
Why not give out vouchers instead of direct payments to the parents.
