My husband (26) and I (27) have two young children and are currently renting in Rockland County. We are looking to purchase a home that is in a family oriented community, but is affordable so that we may find other young couples like ourselves. Both of us grew up in Rockland County and its sad to see high taxes and listing prices force all the starter families to look elsewhere. But where are they going??
Good schools and no more than an 1.5 hour commute to the city would be ideal.
I think because Orange County is the fastest growing county in NY state, many are going there. That might be a place to look.
Yes, many people say that is the place to look...especially in the Monroe-Woodbury school district. We have looked in the area, but there seemed to be a very large Hasedic community. It wasnt exactly the "young" feel I was going for. I havent really heard about anywhere else specifically.
What about other districts in Orange County like Warwick, Goshen, Highland Falls, Cornwall, Washingtonville, Minisink Valley, Valley Central and a few others?
