Hi all,

My wife and I are looking to relocate to the mid Hudson region in the next couple of months, and we'd be extremely grateful for any advice that could help us start off on the right foot. We're moving from the upper Capitol Region, so we're slightly familiar with towns like New Paltz (we like) and Rhinebeck (a bit small, exclusive and homogeneous for our taste). We're curious to learn more about the Newburgh/Beacon area.

We'd welcome a bit more diversity across the board (i.e., social, cultural, political, religious) than we've experienced up here, and schools are extremely important to us (we have a 2.5 year old daughter, and we both work in education/higher ed). We tend to value quality of life (social/town life, good library, parks) over material goodies.

Any advice is welcome. Thanks so much.
