Lately I've been thinking about getting a Nissan 300ZX Z32 (1990-96) as a second/weekend car. I've seen several available online with low mileage (under 100K) and that look in decent shape. Some of them, though, have automatic transmissions and I'd rather have a manual with this car. Have any Z32 owners done an automatic to manual transmission conversion on your car? If so, how much did it cost?

Also, is it normal on these cars for their to be a lot of clutch travel on the 5 speed models? I took a 1991 5 speed 300ZX out for a test drive recently and I couldn't believe how far I had to stretch my leg to use the clutch. Maybe I had the seat back a little too much, but I practically had to extend my left leg fully to change gears. Is that normal? It's been a while since I've owned a manual trans car but I don't remember having that experience with the manual trans cars I've owned.

Z32's are amazing cars!! I have a completely bone stock 1996 5-speed normally aspirated model with 110,000 miles. I've had it for around 15 years or so. They have a ton of room and are very comfortable. Mine has very short clutch travel, and the clutch action is smooth and flawless. They run forever, and are very durable and reliable. I couldn't see how an auto to manual conversion would be as good or reliable as a factory manual. I'm 6'1 and find the ergonomics of these cars to be impeccable and perfect. I do like to keep my seat up far enough to where I can access the clutch comfortably. I've never liked driving in any car with the seat reclined or scooted far from the pedals and steering wheel.
