I have heard many people say that after college, you don't really make any close friends at all, and you go through life with only people that want to benefit off of you (financially and such).
Nope! It's not as easy any more after, say, high school/college since you're not all in one place for hours a day and you're not all at exactly the same stage/doing the same basic things, but absolutely you can find very close friends later in life.
It depends on you.
For example, I'm 30 years old and I have just one friend.
But I am sure, that there is a lot of people who have many friends even if they 30-40 and older.
I have made friends throughout my life. At every stage. You just have to be open to people that you meet, put down the facade and be yourself. Having a sense of humor and joie de vivre is key. Enjoy yourself and enjoy others. Let go and get out of your damn head.
I have a new friend that is moving off island and I am so disappointed as he is a really nice guy. I took him to dinner this past week and told him how much I have enjoyed his company. We will stay in touch I am sure.
You just have to look harder for people with mutual interests. Places like Elks clubs, etc. I meet a lot of people at the air field when I go flying, there is a pretty tight community around the hangar complexes, some people practically live there.
