There are countless people that can't celebrate or be happy for other peoples success? Is it because they are jealous? Is it because they just don't know how to say congratulations and really mean it?

I figured it was the 21st century why can't we celebrate either others success and happiness?

Instead you find people with envy, or jealousy and straight negativity...let's all lighten up a bit, not everything is a competition.

Envy and lack of fellow-feeling are not 21st century inventions. Perhaps because our society is less family and community oriented that in the past, these feelings may be being more freely expressed.

When people are unhappy they often project that unhappiness onto others in various forms. One of those forms is envy/jealousy.

Has very little to do with the person who is successful and has more to do with the person projecting the negativity onto the successful person. They are simply unhappy in their own lives. A happy person is always happy about others' successes.

Jealousy and envy are emotions that are as old as time its self. It won't stop just because it's the 21st century.

im not jealous of anyone,,,yes id like to win the lottery,,,but not jealous if someone else has more than i..

this is the fallout of over protective parents- they shelter their kids from everything,,,so as adults, they arent very mature- they get emotions they cant deal with

Smile Happy for others, yes, truly happy

When something good happens for someone, I am truly truly happy. I just love the happy times; guess I've dealt with too many of the other.

please reread and don't make this a generational issue.

It is because they are very unhappy people themselves. Unfortunately, we allow ourselves to be hurt by their lack of enthusiasm for people who are happy and have things they don't. Been there when we moved into our new home and my brother and very unhappy sister in law said all negative things about it. It hurt.

Default Cliche Corner

Misery loves company, which is why it's lonely at the top.
