From Reading responses in the relationship forum such as:
"Tired of Meeting Men only interested in sex"
"Why do women always assume you are trying to have sex with them?"
"I'm not having sex until I'm married
"Why does every guy want to get into my pants?"
"A guy that wants to have sex with me after the 5th date is just not worth my time.
to this:
Baby Showers
"You got knocked up? Heyyyyy let's have a party!"
"You go girl!"
Does it seem like the glorification of baby showers contradicts the responses/comments in the current era of dating?
People tend to post with their own life experiences and there's a handful of people who repeatedly post the same threads on the topics you listed above. CD is not exactly the best cross section of the population, it's just some bored people with a computer.
I would venture so far as to say, the baby shower people are not the same people posting in the threads you listed.
You also need to consider the poster's age and life experience with dating.
To draw any conclusions, which are black and white, based on the posters in CD is somewhat dangerous.
no-baby showers have been around forever. The idea was to give stuff to help the new mother. Probably archaic-the govt does that now.
The government hands out baby boppies and jogging strollers? I don't think so. Nice dig at parenthood though. Does the idea of having a family intimidate you?

I think they are referring to welfare and tax benefits.

I am not making the connection. Unless that poster assumes that a large proportion of couples expecting a baby receives government assistance. And that a bizarre notion.
