Idk, I love my father-n-law but that would really take a toll. Now for 3 mill, I think I could do it.

Hello, lennar next gen homes anyone? Actually we remodeled our home with this in mind for the future for either my parents or for us and my son's family. I guess it's a culture thing but it is quite normal to take in parents that are older and need help.

4000 sq ft is a very large home and if it was remodeled so in laws or parents had thier entrance and kitchen then it would work out fine. Lenner's next gen homes are here in Florida and all over the country and folks are buying with the future in mind.

The way that college kids are waiting to have a family and even buy a home a lot of parents are already living with adult children. Also with retired folks that lost so much money in thier 401s in the last crash that expensive assisted living will not be in the cards for everyone.

We have a in law quarter that we are renting out right now, but the plan has always been to either have my mom there when she needs my help or in the future for us to live in when we visit Miami while renting out the rest of the house to either our children at mortgage cost or to a tenant to build more funds for assisted living while we travel the country in the RV.

If the house followed the next gen floor plans then a no brainier, heck yes.

Yes my parents live with me. It is expected that they do and they live free of any financial burden. We pay for everything. They just pay for any personal items they may need. When we go out we pay for the full meal. When we vacation many times we will take them with us.

Just how it is but normal for asian cultures.

As well as other cultures and even Americans too. I wonder what some will do or expect as they get
older? ...and yes, I understand that there are people who have made plans but no one is invincible
to the randomness of misfortune in our lives.

this is such a weird question: (heres a boolean truth-table):
if i liked them and could afford my own home: 1
if i liked them and could not afford my own home: 1
if i hated them and could afford my own home: 0
if i hated them and could not afford my own home: 1

No. I wouldn't even live with my own parents for a million.

My MIL is about 10000 miles from me. Only after I got that far from her I could relax. So no, otherwise my psychiatrist's and other medical bills will be way higher than 300K.
