Suddenly finding myself single and being a senior I'm back in the mix, but wish to go w/ just friends to hang with that might have the same interests that I have, OR try an online service more geared toward dating where members post their profiles in the hope of a match w/ someone. Not interested in a service that matches up people for me, I can wade through stuff and figure that out myself.

Has anyone tried any of this? I probably shouldn't even mention being a senior because at 65 I operate like someone much younger, but there's no sense looking through profiles of folks that are 20.

Thanks. That appears to be geared only for groups. I'm looking for individuals because I can make the parameters much more exact vs a group thing.

There used to be something called Telepersonals (I worked for them in their first S.F. office way back when) where you left an outgoing message telling a little about yourself, what you were into, what you were looking for, etc. Other callers could scroll through the "presentations" to see if anyone sounded interesting. Unfortunately, they don't appear to be in business anymore except in Canada.

Tinder Social may work. I don't know anything about it except that my grandson found two different girls on it. So it may be for young people, but you could check out if there are different age groups.

The Tinder Social seems highly dependent on smart phone apps, and my cell phone is only that, a phone, so that didn't work, but the OurTime site looks promising, especially as it's geared for over 50 humans. That might just work, so I'll ck it out. I'm not necessarily looking to date, but it would be a good start to find people w/ similar interests and values. Good stuff. Thanks!

There is a cut-off age for Tinder. I think it is either 50, 55 or 60. My niece wanted me to try them but then I came to my senses and realized I prefer not having a man in my life.

That was funny chilur1228! I don't want a man in my life either, but a woman might be OK. Or a cat :]

I went through a short profile w/ OurTime (they focus on people 50+), but then they sneaked in the rates right out of the blue. I didn't opt for a subscription, but DID finally get over to the site below to I read the reviews! Wow. This is one bad dating site. At least the worst that can happen is that I'll probably get some spam from them. Moral of the story...read the reviews first. Duh.

.
No, the idea is that you attend the meetup groups in order to meet individuals with whom you might click. If you make a friend or two, then you can hang out with one or both of them as you wish.

PlentyofFish.com is free and has a lot of members. I have met one person from them, didn't work out. I have used eHarmony, free version, in the past and met a few frogs and a few nice g u ys. Nothing really clicked. Meet in a public place like a Starbucks and don't give out real phone number before meeting in person. Trust your gut, if they seem off, there is something wrong.
