Then when it was my mother, once a day..... at least.
Now, to my brothers, especially since I have taken over my mother's job, once a week, if not more. Sometimes, at least, just the phone call, but sometimes, just the text on FB.

Why are you assuming a mother role with your brothers? That's weird.
Flares work for me. My dad prefers to see one once a day, but they embarrass my kids.
I'll never get through this lifetime supply anyway.
My dad left me a Morse Code thingie when he died! I still haven't figured out yet how to use it so I'm still standing over my fire pit with a Native American blanket every evening instead.
My husband bought me a "World's Loudest Whistle" and I use it on occasion to let him know I'm alive.
I'm serious, even though it sounds like I'm being silly or sarcastic. Sometimes I give a toot on that doggone loud whistle and he'll yell from upstairs, "Glad to know you're doing okay, Honey." And then I'll toot again. It's a really loud whistle. They weren't just whistling Dixie when they claimed it was the World's Loudest. Or maybe they were whistling Dixie. I don't know what the correct answer is.
My dad left me a slide rule. I haven't figured that out yet, either.
I wonder if I could communicate into the great beyond using the slide rule ... ? Hm. He was an engineer, after all.
