Sometimes people act out of character. I just got annoyed. It seems like just another srjth topic. I wish I hadn't posted in this topic. Please just average my posts. I'll probably eschew further posts here.

I think validation is out of the question.
I stated clearly that I was venting. What in the hell is your problem, am I or this thread triggering you?

Not being critical here but you know, if you prefer to stay on this forum and have something that isn't a suitable topic , you can put it in the 'chat' thread.

Yeah I know there's a chat thread. Maybe I should have posted this in the Psychology forum. In addition to venting, I was hoping someone might have some insight into why people do this over text. I think I just don't like having long conversations over text (seriously, from 7am until 9pm) about nothing but small talk every single day. I know I sound like an ungrateful brat or something, but I'm trying to understand how this is fulfilling or enriching to him? Maybe if I understood what he was getting out of it I wouldn't be bothered.

I have the same problem with chain emails, and that's even worse because some idiots do not understand the meaning of BCC. I tell my friends, just don't send me those "funny" chain emails. I can amuse myself just fine without them. I've been successful in beating it into their heads to not send me that junk.

Considering my business and many other emails (personal finance, email buddies) I can barely read all my emails as it is, and don't need or want chain emails, even if funny.

My sister sometimes texts me funny images but she has good judgement to not over-do it.

srjth, perhaps your brother is bored or perhaps he needs attention and is doing it in an annoying way.

Then why not just ask him? You can do it in a polite way, just tell him that you don't really like texting and would love to know why he likes it so much. Maybe that'll shed light on his habit and give you an opportunity to channel him into a different mode of communication?
