My husband and I will be moving to Ft. Bragg area in January. We are looking for a very specific vibes (think Austin TX), and were hoping some of you might be able to point us in the right direction.
We are in our early 40's, and our only child is off to college. For the first time we do not have to worry about school districts, and such, when selecting a house.

As I see it we have two choices. 1. We could live in a gated community, but without kids I just don't know that we will have the opportunity to meet many people. 2. Or we could live in a town with charm, where we could walk to local restaurants, shops and such. The latter would be my choice, the former is my husband's choice. Open to any suggestions.

Thanks!

If your looking for charm you can't beat the village of Pinehurst. You can also walk to many restaurants.
You can always look at the gated community of Pinewild in Pinehurst but you will have to drive to the restaurants
