I'd like to ask this here instead of calling agents who then won't leave me alone 😉
We're considering moving to Wilmington, looking at 5 bedrooms homes in the $300k price range (3000ish square feet). To me, the property taxes seem really, really low. Our home in Maine (5 bedroom, $250k, 3100 sq ft) costs us $2400 a year in taxes. My husband wondered if it was because home insurance is higher (not sure if there is really a correlation there, but whatever)? Our insurance is about $800 a year.
I'd also be curious about electricity and water costs for that size home. I read another thread on here, but people didn't really reference the size of their homes, so it's hard to compare.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Regardless of what you paid... what has the current fair market value become?
What is/was the assessment value amount ...and the mil rate in that ME County??
How would/do those ME numbers compare to New Jersey or North Carolina Counties?
I'm sorry, I'm not really sure what you're getting at. I put numbers up so I could get a fair/relative comparison. Property taxes on a $500k home or a $150k home don't really help me get an idea of what the costs on a $300k home would be. Unless you're saying that NC property tax rates aren't based on the home's value? And I don't really get where NJ comes into it other than I've never seen property taxes higher than there.
I'm just trying to get some ballpark numbers here, so I can have an idea of what to expect.

You received some good information on the duplicate thread you posted on the Coastal Forum. Look there.
Thanks. I didn't intend to cross post. I realized that this post didn't make it into the subcategory I had wanted and I couldn't figure out how to delete this thread.
