The part that is to be widen, the worse part of I85 from Charlotte to Greensboro. It should have been widen years ago.

I85 starts in Montgomery, Alabama to Petersburg, Virginia. So not all traffic is not from North Carolina or Charlotte. It is a major road through Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and southern Virginia. To say it is nor needed is not looking at the whole picture.

You can not compare I85 to LA freeways.
