I live in Raleigh but work from my home for a company based out of MD. I got an email stating that my contract will come to an end on Jan 31. They are saying they will pay me for special events as a contract worker. 1099. There are only 3 events this year and the first one is in July. So, I would have no income until then. They also said, I could sell there products and receive a 10% commission. I am not a salesman at all. I do not do sales.

With this on the table, would I be able to draw unemployment?

Thanks,

Greg

How long have you been under contract?
Is this contract work of a full time nature?
Have you been paying the Self Employment taxes?

This forum is not the best place for such a question--start with your own HR, and then google government website who should have the exact parameters about when one can get Unemployment.
