Lake Hickory Crossings is a retail center that will locate at the southeast corner of North Center Street and 29th Avenue Northeast.

Publix:
Publix has confirmed its first store in Hickory will be at Lake Hickory Crossings. ("Publix Super Markets Locations in Charlotte, North Carolina.") The store will open in late 2016.

Publix had proposed a 45,000 square feet store accompanied by 5,000 square feet of additional retail space.

Construction of Publix #1550 appears to be moving quickly. The exterior walls of the store are up. The roof should be going on soon.

Publix #1550 is still projected to open in 2017 although an exact date has not been announced. I do not know if January 2017 is a possibility.

I hope they're under roof by January. I drove by last week and the walls were already up, so they probably will be. January is a way off, and we have plenty of working days until then. I don't see why they can't be finished before then.

There is a lot of work to do inside when the store is enclosed. When the construction is complete, bringing in fixtures and equipment follow. The week before Publix #1550's opening would be the receiving and stocking of products.

Publix Pharmacy #1550's pharmacy permit was issued by the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy this week. Publix #1550 could open as early as January.

GRAND OPENING for the new PUBLIX in HICKORY, NC will be on FEBRUARY 8, 2017.

This will be a nice new option along that particular corridor. Previously, the choices largely ranged between 1 of 4 Lowes foods within a few miles of each other. The recently opened Food Matters is a nice addition as well.

Lowe's Foods stores 153, Sandy Ridge Square, 1405 29th Avenue Drive Northeast, Hickory, North Carolina 28601-7323; 245, 260 14th Avenue Northeast, Hickory, North Carolina 28601-2516; and 254, Belle Hollow, 3010 North Center Street, Hickory, North Carolina 28601-1161, face stronger competition against Publix #1550.

I wonder if Publix is already planning additional stores in Hickory.
