Development projects from N.C.'s largest cities. Each area has it's own thread. It's hard to keep up. Now a thread to keep up with all of N.C.'s big projects.

But if this stays on topic I could see this useful for the rest of North Carolina and people moving here as well

How about Chapel Hill? I've got one for y'all. The University has just announced that the redevelopment project they have been working on for University Square (in front of Granville Towers, for folks who attended UNC) will be a $5Million performing arts lab, studio and theater on Franklin Street.

CHARLOTTE - The N.C. Department of Transportation has started construction on the Monroe Expressway, a roughly 20-mile toll freeway that will provide an alternative for high-speed regional travel along the U.S. 74 corridor.

The new freeway will extend from U.S. 74 near I-485 in Mecklenburg County to U.S. 74 between the towns of Wingate and Marshville in Union County. The approximately $840 million project is expected to open to traffic in late 2018. The Monroe Expressway will use electronic tolling similar to the Triangle Expressway, which opened to traffic in December 2011.

Crews are now installing silt fencing, survey markers, right-of-way fencing and performing limited clearing and grubbing necessary for construction within the right-of-way. These activities are starting from the eastern limits of the project and working west. This work isn't expected to have major impacts on the traveling public.

NCDOT is currently working to finalize design plans for the Expressway and continuing to acquire right-of-way.

Where do they plan on getting the other million from? Do they have any idea when it may start(planned start)?

Joe, the article said multi year project. Is there any idea how long it would take before we see a finished product? Best guess? Also I take it you're in the Triad. How's the Tanger PAC coming along?

This will be a nice addition to the Durham "skyline". I think Durham is definitely turning over a new leaf. I'm excited to see it progress.
