Huge $250 million project planned for the Seaboard Station on the north side of downtown Raleigh.

"A mixed-use developer that has built high-end projects across Washington, D.C., has major plans to redevelop Seaboard Station with ground-floor retail and apartments and lodging above."

The plan is to increase the shopping center from 100k sqft to 800k sqft with 650 apartments, 150 hotel rooms, and 90k sqft of additional retail space.

I don't think "mall" is the right term here.

As you can see in the second photo, Smokey Hollow has not even started... Below you can see a newer photo. It is amazing to see the massive potential that West and Harrington Streets carry for creating some nice urban corridors. Phase II will definitely make a huge difference. Now, if we can get some useful retail afterward it will be nice. I wonder if Kane could potentially bring a Target for Phase II or Phase III. Rumor has it that Kane will request rezoning for Phase III for up to 40 stories. Of course, this sounds funny, since 40 floors is a limit that we are not going to reach any time soon... After all, this is Raleigh, a city with a "can't do" attitude, and I am not being sarcastic.

You are correct, and that could be a problem, but it's not a full size Target and it targets the student population, for the most part. Also, since there will be a Publix there, I doubt they will put a full service Target, which usually carries groceries. Just hoping for a chain that could be affordable for most people.

I really love the infill being created by the Grand Bohemian Hotel. The presence on the street is going to look great with the restaurants and awnings. Really extends Trade Street's connectivity to the other towers along that street like Catalyst. The rooftop bar is going to be a great spot to enjoy a nice day and have good views down the Church Street corridor.
