I am looking at belair in Gaston area. i heard moorestown has lots of traffic. I have also considered down by the border in travelers rest, and out by marion. My family member is in Asheville, but cannot tolerate the prices and traffic. It seems like the sprawl is from black mountain to waynesville, which increases traffic and prices. I need help picking a small town, but big enough to have a YMCA, or indoor pool.

I would love if NC had low tax retirement areas like phoenix.

This needs to be moved to the NC forum.

Gastonia is just exurb Charlotte sprawl. I don't know why you'd think Black Mountain is some sort of sprawly mess. That area is mostly small towns. Waynesville is small, but there isn't much large scale sprawl in metro Asheville.

We find the traffic in Asheville to be low traffic. It all depends on where you are coming from-have you experienced the DC or Atlanta area rush hour/hours?. A retiree can tailor their trips to non peak times.

NC doesn't have a Moorestown that I know of. Do you mean Mooresville, which is north of Charlotte? It does have lots of traffic, which does often move poorly, particularly North-South traffic to/from Charlotte along I-77.
