We are considering retiring to North Carolina.

We are looking for a city, town or village that is walkable.

We would be renting a townhome in a downtown area.

We want to live near the downtown area so we can walk to the coffee house, the restaurants, etc.

Do you know of any place like that in North Carolina?

Thanks

There are many towns like this! As a starting point, I think that all major towns are. Uptown Charlotte is very walkable and there are smaller suburban towns like Belmont.

You may have to do more searching to find townhomes for rent. What is your budget? Do you have a preference about town size? Would you like an urban or more suburban area? Are you looking for a quiet, secluded town or a busy city?

Are you open to mixed development areas within a city/town? For example:
Ayrsley in Charlotte
Baxter Village in Fort Mill, SC (just south of Charlotte)

I'm sure there are others in different parts of the state.

We are looking for a more urban area. Probably a more quiet area.

We are willing to pay no more than $1,200.00 per month for housing.

Thanks so much!

For $1,200/month, you can rent a nice place close to the river in Wilmington, inside of 3rd Street.

There are mountains upon mountains of vacant rentals in Wilmington, so keep in mind that prices are very inconsistent between properties.
