Hi! I'm 25 and single and am looking to move to NC. I'm tired of the expensive lifestyle and jaw-dropping rent. Does anyone recommend a great area in NC for NY native?
Well, if you're looking to still have conveniences and culture that you've grown used to in NYC, but on a smaller, more reasonable scale, then most of NC's larger cities should be the right fit for you. Raleigh, Charlotte, Durham, Greensboro, Winston-Salem, etc. Even a few smaller cities like Asheville, Wilmington or Chapel Hill could also be appealing to you.
I recommend reading thru the existing and older threads here about various cities and just googling them up to see what they're all about. What you do for a living and whether those jobs are available there will also play a part.

I agree with RR. Also, it's a good idea once you've narrowed it down a little to visit some of your choices. NEVER move to a new area blindly. Good luck
I just got back from NC. I am looking to move there from Ohio also. I drove around the state in search for the city I like the best. I honestly like Wilmington the best. It is a young area, and it has culture without the headaches of the big city. I am young and single also, and I really like the area. Plus, Myrtle Beach is only about an hour away. THis is good for other things to do such as going to concerts, etc.
i recommend wilmington over raleigh / durham area. everyone kept telling me that is the place to be, but i was not impressed. i lived in columbus, ohio for a while and i would go back there before i would move to raleigh.
hope that helps!
