My mom is now living in Florida and she wanted to move to North Carolina, to be closer to us. She's 74 and single, doesn't like steep hills and wants to drive shortcut to stores and hospital/doctors.

I'm living in Clayton area and I know that our town may not be ideal for her due to hilly roads, too rural, and too far from stores.

Do you know any good place for her to retire and be closer to us? We are thinking of moving to a new location and have two houses close to each other or in a same neighborhood.

Oh, one more thing: no mountains and near ocean - too hillys and hurricane prones (she had enough).

Southern Pines is a very nice area for retirees. A manager I had years ago lives there and loves it.

I never heard of it. Where is it located?
