My husband and I plus four kids are planning on moving to Clyde , NC. We found some property with an old farm house on it. Can anyone tell what they know about this town? All info would be appreciated.

Nice little quiet town. I wouldn't mind living there.

Not a fisherman, but the 200 acre Lake Junaluska is just a few miles down the road. I don't know about public access or fishing fees.

And the lovely smell of Blue Ridge Paper Mill just a few miles away. It stinks, but Haywood county natives will tell you that is the "smell of money"

The Blue Ridge Paper mill is in Canton, to the east. A wind from the east (somewhat rare) would bring the smell into Clyde.

As with many areas near the mill, it depends on where exactly in Clyde that you live. There are portions out SR209 that are beautiful, and don't tend to get the papermill odor, and there are portions of Clyde that get a direct hit from the mill.

There are portions of Canton (N. Canton) that don't get the mill odors. Just check around. The area is wonderful and a great place for kids. Your realtor can probably help you (if you aren't already here). Focus Realty in Waynesville does a great job and they are very down to earth.

Good luck!

Im not disagreeing with area might be pretty or a nice place for kids but I would be concern with what you do not smell and what is floating in the air, in the clouds and what gets wash down in the rain into the drinking water and on your skin and in your lungs.

According to information from the Toxic Release Inventory, the paper mill released about 3 million pounds of toxic and hazardous chemicals into the air in 2005, including more than 9,000 tons of sulfur dioxide, a respiratory irritant

This west asheville city has Over the past two decades there have been countless Federal and County fines imposed on this plant for toxic pollution of this river which flows into Tennessee
