My husband and I are experienced teachers interested in moving from Utah to NC so that we can be in closer proximity to family (in Ohio) but still enjoy the lifestyle the mountains have to offer. Does anyone out there know what the job market is for teachers in NC?

After reading the Charlottte Observer this moring, i'd say this state is indeed of needing more teachers due to the population explosion. I feel you may not have a problem at all.

My wife teaches middle school science here in Concord (near Charlotte) and the systems around here seem to not be able to hire teachers fast enough.

Thanks for the info. That sounds encouraging. I've done quite a bit of research via many school web-sites, and have been impressed by the progressive districts there.
