Is it a good idea to live at Frago and work at grand Forks.

FYI, I just need to go to work two days a week (Tue and Thu, 11-5), roughly 9 months a year (Jan 15-May 15; Aug 15-Dec 15).

Any thoughts will be appreciated.

I live in the GF area....for only 2 days a week it is doable....many people have done that.

Be prepared though to have a place to stay during winter storms....blizzards....as interstate between the two can be shut down a few times during the winter season. If you have absolutely must be in GF for a job and you know a big storm is coming.....you can always get a hotel room in GF ahead of time and stay there. Even if the interstate isnt closed...when the wind kicks up and the snow falls (even light accumulations) travel can be very slow and dangerous.

Sounds like you're working at the university too? I have been looking for housing in Grand Forks for months. We'll arrive in 4 weeks and I am getting anxious- looks like there is a lot more housing in Fargo. I am still holding out for Grand Forks housing though.

You can do it, but I wouldn't recommend it. The weather can be VERY hazardous in that area during the winter. Blowing snow, zero visibility, 50+ mph winds, frigid wind chills. If you slide off the road or your car breaks down in a rural area, you could die.
