I'm guessing you meet at the shop, travel to the work sites, and put in 12 hours total on site. So probably 15-16 hour days. I'm sure you all travel in the work truck.
I don't know the company, I'm just passing along a lead. Sidney Montana is also a hotbed of oil activity that doesn't get as much attention.
And I for one appreciate that lead. Thanks! If the travel time is paid time then this would be perfect for me given the 20 day on/10 day off cycle. I have to travel quite a ways to see my family and so that would allow for quality time even with the long travel.
All you need to do is find the places where the rigs are drilling. Obviously you want to go to the places where they are drilling and there isn't a large metro nearby. Williston gets lots of attention because there are tons of rigs and the area only has small towns so there is labor shortage (which attracts the media). Another area you might want to look at is the odessa region. Its out in the middle of no where, the large metros are hundreds of miles away and tons of drilling going on. If you check the craigslist for that area you will see lots of ads for CDL drivers etc. Practically everyone is hiring. Even dead end retail jobs are paying at least 12$/hr. If that was in a metro area, you would make minimum wage.
Also make sure you read up on the shale basin maps. I know there are hidden boom towns out there. You want to focus on the rigs that are in the shale basins as the are using fracking. Fracking = labor intensive. As you basically need an army of truck drivers to haul sand and water. Also pay attention to the yellow areas. Those are areas where they might start drilling, eventually.
Cool map post, is good to know where all the shales are. After my hubby gets some experience, and cdl, we want to head permanetely towards Texas but he knows he has better shot right now in ND.
Looking mainly for a 14/14 or 21/7 rotation ... got a couple of leads from a really, really nice guy at Weatherford in Dickinson... actually he asked wanted me to apply there but told him I am looking more for a rotation... (Hey a can take a couple of weeks or three in ND weather if I get a week or two back in the FLA... HA) Pay there $18 hr with 60 hrs a week. No housing help though.
Baker Hughes and Halliburton have two big places being built here and heard Weatherford is possibly moving 3 or 4 divisions here in the Spring if they can find a site... Maybe the companies are looking more central between Williston and SD... who knows.
Going to a few more places tomorrow and then a Job Fair on wednesday... will keep you posted.
Thanks again, all.
