I'm looking at moving back to North Dakota again. I lived and worked there for 6 months earlier this year, had something happen at my job, and went back to Michigan. I'm originally from North Dakota so I know everything there is to know about the state.
Last time I lived there the oilfield hiring was slowing down quite a bit (except for the highly skilled positions), so after many applications, walk-ins, and phone calls I gave up on that. I got a decent job at a place in Minot that paid very well compared to what I could find in Michigan. There's really no opportunity here unless you have a ton of experience in a field, which is hard for someone who's 20. I want to move back to North Dakota again for work, but stay there this time.
My issue is cost of living. I've been looking around A LOT and while prices have come down a little, it's still very pricey to live out there. Overall, what is the current situation with decent paying jobs? I don't want to move out there again just to get by if that's what I'm doing here in Michigan. And yes, I look on craigslist and Jobs ND. I'm trying to find something that is more than just "show up and do your job." My last job I had there wasn't highly skilled but you needed to know what you were doing and I was very good at it.
