Hello, my husband's job is bringing us to NEP - specifically to the Scranton area ( his job will be in Clark's Summitt ). Need advice on which town to call home! This is us...

Like I said, husband has a job in place but I will need a job in the medical field - I'm a licensed professional with 15 years of experience. We have four children ages 13, 11, 10 and 8. Excellent schools are a must as two have tested as gifted. They are all active in recreational soccer and basketball. Two are on travel teams so strong sports programs would be a plus! Recreationally we enjoy camping, outdoors, (watching) professional sports, fishing, boating, live music and kid/ family related events. Things like the opera, ballet, plays and the such are okay on occasion but not a huge necessity for us. My ideal home would be something like a farmette, but I'm okay with a very large suburban yard. We don't mind " going to town" so to speak for our shopping needs, but more than 20 minutes out would be too urban with four active kids! I've done some dabbling on the real estate sites and it seems like price range of 175-250k "ish" fits the budget. Okay, I think that about covers it!

BTW, I'm originally from Palmyra, Pa and familiar with the farming communities of PA but do not know much about life/living in the mountains and valleys of NEP.

TIA for answers, opinions, comments and suggestions

Your hubby's job is right in the Abington Heights School District, which is the best in NEPA. The Clarks Summit area is also the best place to live in Lackawanna County. See photo link below.
