Does anyone know how good the lawn seats are at montage mountain? Interested in a concert there but not enough to pay $100 for the band. Thought lawn seats might be nice and inexpensive way to spend the night. Can you see or hear well from there? Is there security? I don't want to be surround by high, drunk idiots when I'm trying to enjoy music.
Thanks

You'll be able to see stick figures and then their faces on the screens by them depending on the show. The acoustics are fine. I don't think the seats are worth $100, and yes there will probably be a lot of people drinking.

It would be nice if some of these bands would play the arena as it would be much better viewing.

Do they have any music acts up there anymore? Looking at the schedule I son;t see single one scheduled through November. Can't be because they won't play there, someone doesn't want them there.

When it gets dark, the lawn turns into a constant moving drunkin' crowd of beer bottle throwing cursing lunatics. I would highly reccommend not getting lawn seats.

I was there for two shows on the lawn, Bob Seger and Rush. Both were relatively calm...

Very few big acts book there, I can only guess that the Arena is too small for a very popular band and too big for a lot of the others. The big acts can make more money per night in places like Madison Square Garden that seat 18,000 where as the Mohegan Sun Arena only seats 10,000. Likewise, if an act is likely to only fill 2,000 or 3,000 seats, the fee to rent the Arena would be too high. I keep hoping Dream Theater will book the Arena as they can fill the Kirby over the 2,000 seats there but will probably only draw 4,000 or 5,000 making the fee for a 10,000 seat arena too high. I think the Arena here was poorly planned in that aspect, they could have made it slightly larger but only used half for smaller acts and lower the rental fees for the smaller draws to keep the place open. But I know it's all economics, the cost to just turn the lights on at that place has to be compensated.

But Hey, like you said, maybe someone in charge is being overly picky. Just by looking at the schedule I can't figure the place out. It seems like a waste of space and it's only purpose is a big banner advertisement for the Mohegan Sun Brand Name.

I forget what it was but the original plan was for 12K to 14K seats. Ir was originally supposed to be all the way around but they had to scale back becsue of funding.

I know they have had some big acts there but it would seem to me that some of the middle of the road acts would jump on it.

It wasn't just country acts, they had a lot of good rock acts too like AC/DC, The Eagles and Billy Joel. You woulodn't expect that caliber of musician to play their all the time but certainly some of the lesser musicians would be interested. If were to venture to guess it is either someone doesn't want the music acts there or the promoters are avoiding the place on purpose. There is no reason some of these acts wouldn't be interested in playing there.
