I am convinced that Luzerne county is the most corrupt government in this country. I think we are much worse then even Chicago, but they get all the attention because of the size of Chicago and it's fame and everyone knows Chicago. Pound for pound, Luzerne County is as bad as it gets.

"Getting old?" I stand by my comments. I know of far too many people locally who try to cut others down because they are threatened when someone appears more successful than they are. It's truly shameful. Instead of working hard, picking yourself up by your bootstraps, and/or going back to school to better yourself, far too many have their hands extended outwards for a free ride. Many people here take pride in bashing teachers, lawyers, doctors, accountants, politicians, and basically anyone else locally with a degree and ambition. Why? Does it make you feel like a "man" to put someone else down because they played a better round of the "game of life?" Les Spindler comes to my mind IMMEDIATELY when I want to think of a poster child for this sort of mentality of trying to drag others down to YOUR level instead of trying to further YOURSELF to bring YOURSELF up to the level of everyone else.

Paul you still live with your mother, your 22 and have never left home and I honestly think that you have no basis to pass judgement like that on me or anyone for that matter.

You have a serious amount of growing to do if you think that you can look down on people like that from your moms basement.

What's the problem with it?
Isn't it the best government money can buy?
Don't the politicians stay "bought" when bribed?
Or do they renege and go "honest"... Gawd Ferbid!?

Aren't the people sufficiently bribed with "income transfer" and "pork barrel" projects?

Cynical I may be, but let's be honest. That's what the people really want, isn't it?

I don't hear the masses demanding less government, less spending, and less bureaucracy. No one is agitating to reduce government waste (and waist). BHO was elected on the Democratic Spend More NOW platform.

I think it was back in 1776 when someone said government has two jobs: (1) secure rights, and (2) govern those who consent. And if you didn't give consent to be governed, all government could do was to help secure your rights to life, liberty and property ownership.

In those days, people didn't spend over half their working lives supporting others, via socialist taxation. People weren't required to get government permission (license) to marry, own a dog, build a house, travel on public roads, or open a business.

Today?
The People are corrupt, as is their public servants.
