Are they still talking about this or has the idea gotten squashed? I think it would be a very good idea!

Walmarts seem to be going everywhere but my town.......Wow, the list ScranB gave was full of places up Scranton way. I have to travel to mine. One off in Stroudsburg......one up in Mt Pocono and one down in Lehighton. ( a small one there)
I think I need to walk with a sandwich sign and advertise that we're available for some dept. store....any kind at this point.

My ex's Dad drives truck for Wal-Mart and he says that project was squashed long time ago. They were going to use the land across from McDonald's and found that they couldn't use it. Then there was talk about putting one in the old Ames and that wouldn't work either because Wal-Mart only wants supercenters put up now. The last rumor we heard was that a Super Agway was going into the old Ames.

Across the street from McD's would have been perfect! What happened with the land? IMHO, it would be a wise choice and an investment. You've got residents and ppl coming up all summer. The closest are Honesdale, Mt Pocono, or Scranton. Honestly, who wants to travel that far? I think most ppl would be in favor of it.

I did hear this weekend that the land across from McDonald's has been sold, but I don't who bought it. It has been for sale for many years and I'm sure it didn't come cheap.

I would definitely vote in favor of a Walmart, and I think we will eventually have one in Hamlin - just don't know how soon it might happen.

The land across from McDonalds that was for sale is deceiving. It is a small road front strip....the acres that you see behind belong to someone else and is not for sale. Rite-Aid is moving to Hamlin corners right across the street from CVS. Then there will be only 4 renters in the entire Ames Plaza (not counting McDonalds) Radio Shack has moved out and bought their own building. The name on the sign for info. on rentals in the plaza is a company in NJ that owns about 100 shopping centers. I don't think they really care......
