The ceiling fell in because volunteers, such as yourself, kept jumping from the rock ledge onto the roof in order to prop open windows. When the damage was noticed by the city, I hear that GWC denied workers access to the building, leaving it in disrepair.

The only 'improvement' that GWC made would be the faulty electrical work, which caused a fire in Dec of 07, and placed the lives of every person and animal at the center at severe risk.

Maybe we should talk about the refridgerators and freezers, which were on an indoor only extension cord (this means the grounds were disabled), that were run continuously outside with large rubbermaid containers filled with water suspended above them?

Thanks for posting this. Quote from the above article:

"Mr. Doherty, who was instrumental in bringing Genesis to Nay Aug, said the new venture would not include animals."

Astounding. Sanity, at last. (Not that I think it would be awful to have a few native animals at some sort of learning center in the park--but not in that building.)

The more I think about this, the happier I'm becoming. A lot will depend on the details, of course, but this sounds pretty close to my ideal version of what the building should be used for.

This was probably the plan all along. Lack-of-knowledge Jr. College seems to be becoming as much or more of a land-grabber than the U of S these days. I'm convinced that Doherty's idea to move the library to South Side is just a ploy to hand LJC the Albright building.
