I am currently in a very small apartment that costs way too much around the area of the Vienna Metro. I work by Jermantown Rd. and Rt. 50 in Fairfax. Today, I looked at an apartment by Dulles Town Center that was much cheaper and bigger. Would the south 28 to 50 commute be an awful one in the a.m.? I work from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. M-F. I drove from Fairfax to there after work and it looked like people were going south on 28 than going north on 28 too.

If this commute will not work, does anyone have a recommendation of a commute/area where there might be decent apartments that are a little cheaper than in Fairfax but not be such a horrible commute?

Thanks in advance.

Could you swing over to Fox Mill via Lawyers Road right off Reston Parkway and avoid the whole 28 and 50 mess? Take Fox Mill all the way to Oakton Road, Oakton Road to Jermantown.

You're right, most of the traffic is going the other way in the morning and it shouldn't too bad. 50 and 29 though is pretty bad. I used to drop my son off at daycare at FFX cty parkway and Franklin Farms and take West Ox and then cut through the Fairfax town center and come out at Waples Mill and 50. You could cut over at McLearen off 28 and do this route.

One of the best kept secrets in Fairfax is Hawthorne Village located off Blake Lane. Check and see if anything is on craigslist
