Anyone know if the long-term parking lots at Dulles are plowed during these snow events? Hubby is flying in tonight & I'm thinking I'll need to pick him up if the parking lots haven't been touched. Couldn't find any info on their website. Thanks!

I have flown back into Dulles after a storm and the parking lots are clear....but the snow may be packed up behind your hubby's vehicle. However, the assistance crews are generally out in force after these events like they were for us - and helped us shovel out so we could be on our way. You can always call the airport and ask them but that has been my experience. They have phones at every shuttle stop in the parking lot too in case he can't spot anyone driving around.

Last year when we got the two feet+ right before Christmas my husband was out of town with his car at Dulles. He bought a tiny folding shovel from Walmart that he could check-in with his baggage.

The lots were cleared but the snow was piled against his car and the shovel helped him plus the fact that we had sun the day he came back so quite a bit melted.

I would NOT count on your car being cleared or having airport staff available to clear it out. We arrived back to the US after picking up our son from Ethiopia in the middle of that February snow storm last year. The service at Dulles was beyond words. You're dropped off far away from your vehicle and then you have to tromp through the snow to get to your car if you can even find it. It took hubby around TWO HOURS to get our car cleared out and that's even with being parked at the end of a row. We couldn't get anyone from the airport to come help us. If we didn't have the snow brush or whatever it is called that he had thrown in the car beforehand, I don't know what we would have done.
