What is the traffic like between Aldie and the Fair Oaks area (say, corner of 50 and Ffx Cty Pkwy)?

Specifically, I am thinking east-bound around 6:30-7 AM and west-bound beteen 4-7 PM.

About how long would that travel take each way?

Also, what is the traffic like otherwise, during other times?

Rt 50 gets pretty backed up. I'd say (depending on your Aldie location) between 35 and 50 minutes in the morning, and longer in the afternoon. Rt 50 Westbound at 28 is a bottleneck every single afternoon / evening.

Spencgr is right. Crawly, crawly traffic. Even off-rush hour it's slow-going, say 30 minutes to Fair Oaks, just because of all of the stoplights. We live out that way and a good day is when we don't have to go East on 50.

Really? 30 minutes even at 6:30 AM? From the corner of 15/50 to the corner of 50/Ffx Cty Pkwy?

I'm specifically looking for traffic information between the corner of 15/50 and the corner of 50/Ffx Cty Pkwy, east-bound around 6:45 AM and west-bound from 3 PM and on.

I wouldn't guess a time for you, but spencgr and reebo are right - the stretch especially from Route 15 to 28 can be slow in the morning because of all the lights and the heavy trucks. Route 50 is an industrial corridor - there are dump trucks, rock and gravel trucks, inching inching inching along. They are slow to move when lights turn green, and have to start slowing down way before lights. With only two lanes for most of that stretch, you can easily get trapped behind slow trucks, or run over by cars taking chances to pass slow trucks.

I live in Centreville not too far from Fair Oaks area I work in Chantilly so I also dont go as far as Aldie and I am heading the opposite direction (traffic going towards FFX is rough!) but going from Aldie to Fair Oaks you could take back roads and avoid some traffic. PM me if you like and tell me your exact route from point A to point B and I can give you some back roads you can try, it might save some time but probably not a ton.

sad but true! It is very nice though that the sun is out by 6:30 AM during this time of year.
