Yet another followup - someone on the Fairfax Underground message boards is saying Cox told them they found a problem affecting the area and have fixed it, so perhaps the problem has been resolved.

Final followup - the tech came out and, because I told him there wasn't really a reason for him being here, he checked a few connections and left. Speeds appear to be back to where they were a couple weeks ago - that is, MORE than satisfactory. As noted in previous post(s), apparently Cox fixed whatever they (probably) misconfigured a couple weeks ago.

My only comment w.r.t. this is I'm surprised it took that long a period of time for Cox to figure out they had made a mistake and knocked many customers' evening rates down to 1Mbps. Frankly it should have been noticed faster, IMHO, either by support noticing many similar complaints or by proactive quality testing on data throughput at various times of EACH day on EACH segment of Cox's network.

In any case, I and others are relatively Happy Campers once again.
